"Morning Rescue … blending ginger, lemon and mint- all supportive in reducing mild-moderate symptoms of nausea & sickness"

Additional Info

Morning Rescue is a tummy soothing blend of whole leaves of lemon verbena, lemon balm, African mint and lemongrass combined with pieces of root ginger.

These ingredients have all been used for millennia to support happy tummies. It is believed that their benefits link to the gingerols in the ginger, and citrals in the lemon-y ingredients that are both anti-inflammatory.

Morning Rescue is not a medicine and results will vary between individuals. However, all five key ingredients have a body of peer-reviewed research and/or recognised traditional use supporting their role in reducing nausea, supporting digestive comfort and easing gastrointestinal discomfort. Below is a summary of the key evidence for each ingredient. Links to primary studies are provided for those who wish to read further.

Uplifting and zingy – citrus with a touch of spice and a tingle of mint. We have used three different types of lemon to ensure that the sweet, citrus notes are the perfect base to the tea

Lemongrass - has notes of mint in its flavour profile

Lemon Balm - is mellow and warming, and can help to ease pain and discomfort from indigestion

Lemon Verbena - is sweetly pungent

Ginger - whole pieces of Ginger bring a warming tingle to the tea, and also can help to relieve  bloating

African Mint - finishes the blend with a sweet note

Is Morning Rescue safe during pregnancy?
Yes - Morning Rescue is specifically designed to be safe throughout pregnancy, from the very first weeks. All five ingredients are caffeine-free and have a well-established traditional use that predates modern medicine. We recommend a maximum of 3 cups per day.

Unlike many supermarket herbal teas, Morning Rescue contains no liquorice root - a commonly used ingredient that is not recommended during pregnancy due to possible effects on hormone levels.

Is Morning Rescue safe while breastfeeding?
Yes - Morning Rescue is suitable for breastfeeding mamas. Its soothing anti-inflammatory herbs can also help with post-natal digestive discomfort, and many mamas continue drinking it long after their baby arrives.

When should I start drinking it?
Morning sickness most commonly begins around weeks 6–8 of pregnancy and peaks in the first trimester. Morning Rescue can be drunk from the start of pregnancy. Many mamas find it most effective first thing in the morning, before getting out of bed - try keeping a cup brewed and left to cool on your bedside table the night before.

Can Morning Rescue help with hyperemesis gravidarum (HG)?
Morning Rescue offers gentle natural support for mild to moderate nausea. Hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) is a serious medical condition that requires medical treatment. If you are experiencing severe vomiting in pregnancy that is affecting your ability to eat, drink or function, please speak to your midwife or GP urgently. Morning Rescue may be used alongside medical treatment but is not a substitute for it.

How many cups does one bag make?
Each biodegradable pyramid bag makes at least two cups of tea. Because our bags contain whole leaves and botanicals - not dust or fannings — the flavour and potency hold beautifully on a second brew. One pack of 15 bags makes a minimum of 30 cups.

Is it only for morning sickness? Not at all. While Morning Rescue was inspired by pregnancy nausea, it is equally wonderful for heartburn, indigestion, bloating, travel sickness and general tummy sensitivity at any stage of life. Many non-pregnant customers - including plenty of HotTea Papas - drink it as a daily caffeine-free morning brew.

What does Morning Rescue taste like?
Morning Rescue is bright, citrusy and warming with a clean mint finish. The lemon verbena and lemongrass give it a zingy, uplifting citrus quality. The ginger adds a gentle, warming spice. The mint provides a cooling freshness. It is not bitter, not medicinal and not grassy - just genuinely delicious, even when you feel terrible.

How does Morning Rescue compare to other morning sickness teas?
Most commercial morning sickness teas use a single ingredient (usually ginger only) or low-grade tea dust. Morning Rescue uses five whole-leaf, certified organic botanicals - each chosen for its traditional and evidence-supported role in easing nausea. The synergistic combination is more effective and more flavourful than single-ingredient alternatives. It has won three independent awards and is recommended by midwives.

Is Morning Rescue organic?
Yes. All five ingredients - whole ginger root, lemon verbena, lemon balm, African mint and lemongrass - are 100% certified organic. There are no artificial flavourings, colours, preservatives or sweeteners.

Is the packaging plastic-free?
Yes. Both the outer box and the pyramid tea bag wrapping are plastic-free and biodegradable. The inner bag is made from wood pulp and can go in your food compost bin. The tea bag pyramid is also fully compostable.

  • Each of our packs has simple instructions on it, but essentially you should use 1 tea bag per person, and freshly boiled water for all except Head Start. This tea works best with 80-degree water (let your kettle sit for 5 minutes with the lid open after boiling). Brew for 3-5 minutes depending on how strong you like it.

  • hot_brew_image
  • Use 1 bag per 300ml of water (this is the average size of a water glass) Add freshly boiled water, as if you were making a normal cuppa. Place the glass, with the tea bag still in, in your fridge to cool. Enjoy once cool - add lots of ice and fruit if you're feeling fancy.
