Additional Info

Collagen Calm is a nourishing blend of cacao, coconut, and collagen – designed to support relaxation and sleep, skin, hair and hormone health through pregnancy, postpartum and beyond

Pelvic Floor Support - collagen is a vital component of connective tissue, playing an essential role in maintaining the strength and elasticity of pelvic floor structures — including muscles, ligaments, and fascia.

Restful Sleep - as part of your evening routine, collagen can encourage better sleep due to its natural glycine content. Blending with warm whole milk may enhance this calming effect.

High Cacao Content - Cacao offers multiple benefits for women's wellness, making it a powerful ingredient for hormonal balance, mood support, and overall health. Rich in magnesium and flavonoids, it promotes mood stability by interacting with neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine, helping to reduce stress and anxiety.

Carefully blended with organic, ethically-sourced cacao, creamy coconut milk, and a hint of natural coconut sugar, it is a naturally nourishing way to take a moment to pause and recharge.

Is this collagen safe during pregnancy?
Yes -Collagen Calm uses Purer Mama's grass-fed bovine collagen, which is hydrolysed, easy to digest, and specifically formulated for use during pregnancy and postpartum. It has been developed with guidance from an award-winning obstetrician.

Research supports that hydrolysed collagen supplementation during pregnancy is safe and likely beneficial, with studies supporting daily doses of 2.5–15g. At approximately 2g per serving, Collagen Calm sits well within this range.

Collagen demand increases significantly during pregnancy as the body expands and connective tissue undergoes rapid change - particularly in the skin, pelvic floor and uterus. Supplementing with a high-quality, easily absorbable collagen can help meet this elevated need.

Does it contain brewer’s yeast?
No. We’ve left it out intentionally – so it’s suitable whether you’re breastfeeding or not.

How does collagen support sleep?
Collagen is naturally rich in glycine, an amino acid that supports sleep quality in two key ways: it lowers your core body temperature (which signals to the brain it's time to sleep) and it helps regulate neurotransmitters linked to calm and relaxation.

A 2013 study found that participants taking 3g of glycine daily experienced improved sleep quality and significantly reduced daytime fatigue. Collagen is one of the most efficient dietary sources of glycine.

The magnesium content in cacao complements this effect - magnesium supports the nervous system and relaxes muscles, helping to ease the physical tension that can prevent restful sleep. This is especially valuable during the disrupted sleep patterns common in pregnancy, postpartum and perimenopause.

Is it suitable for vegans?
No – it contains bovine collagen For a plant-based chocolate blend, check out our Go With The Flow Hot Chocolate, especially good if you’re breastfeeding.

How does collagen support Pelvic floor recovery?

Collagen is the primary structural protein in all connective tissue - including the muscles, ligaments and fascia of the pelvic floor. During pregnancy and childbirth, these structures undergo significant stress and stretching.

After birth, the body's demand for the amino acids glycine, proline and hydroxyproline (all found in collagen) increases sharply as it works to repair and rebuild pelvic floor tissue, abdominal muscles and the uterus. Hydrolysed collagen provides these amino acids in their most bioavailable form.

For mothers recovering from caesarean section or experiencing pelvic floor dysfunction, adequate collagen intake is considered an important part of an overall recovery strategy - alongside physiotherapy and pelvic floor exercises.

Can I drink Collagen during postpartum or perimenopause?

Absolutely. Collagen Calm has been designed to support women across all life stages. It is rich in protein and minerals that support postpartum recovery, skin health, joint comfort and hormonal balance.

During perimenopause, declining oestrogen levels accelerate collagen loss - this can show up as skin thinning, joint discomfort and changes in hair texture. A daily collagen routine, alongside a diet rich in Vitamin C, can help counter some of these effects.

Cacao's natural magnesium content also makes this blend a thoughtful choice during menopause, when disrupted sleep, mood changes and stress are common.

Why is Cacao used instead of Cocoa?

Cacao refers to minimally processed cacao beans - it retains more of the natural antioxidants, flavonoids, magnesium and other bioactive compounds that are lost through heavy processing. This gives Collagen Calm a deeper, more complex chocolate flavour alongside genuine nutritional benefits.

Our 41% Ghanaian cacao is ethically sourced and provides a rich source of magnesium (which supports sleep, muscle relaxation and hormone balance), as well as natural mood-supporting compounds like phenylethylamine and anandamide.

Why does Collagen Calm include added vitamin C & D?

Vitamin C is an essential co-factor for collagen synthesis - your body cannot build new collagen without it. Adding Vitamin C directly to the blend ensures maximum collagen absorption and utilisation.

Vitamin D supports bone health, immune function, mood regulation and calcium absorption. It is particularly important during pregnancy, postpartum and perimenopause, and deficiency is extremely common in the UK - especially during winter months.
